I scream, you scream, we all scream for… a new post!

Cue obligatory National Ice Cream Day post ->

In honor of National Ice Cream day, and National Ice Cream Month (thank you Ronald Reagan!), I have rounded up some of my favorite old-school, homemade ice cream shoppes for you:

  1. Snowflake Homemade Ice Cream, Riverhead, NY
Such a cute, retro exterior – and look at that flavor list! #snowflakeicecream

This is my absolute favorite ice cream parlor to visit when I am on Long Island’s East End! It’s so cute and they have over 20 flavors of hard, homemade ice cream in addition to soft serve and sorbets. They also have a chocolate dip cone! Whenever I go, I order their mint chocolate chip ice cream in a sugar cone – yum! On those nights where I am looking to quench my thirst, their lemon sorbet is out of this world. Snowflake is right around the corner from Roadhouse Brick Oven pizza, which I mentioned in my last post, so the next time you’re in Riverhead, have yourself a great meal at this local’s two favorite places for pizza and ice cream 🙂

2. Magic Fountain Homemade Ice Cream, Mattituck, NY

So, to be honest, I haven’t been to this ice cream parlor in about two years, but I remember them having awesome mint chip, too! ( I am a creature of habit, what can I say?!) When I was younger, my family and I would stop here on the way back from visiting Orient Point State Park and the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. Magic Fountain also has a great dip cone, and have over 30 everyday flavors of hard ice cream, 5 seasonal flavors (cocounut avocado sounds so interesting!) and 3 vegan flavors – like whoa! How will you choose?! Some of my other favorites here have been their rainbow cookie and cake batter -sugar high anyone?

3. Dari-Land Ice Cream, Riverhead, NY – No website but check them out on Yelp:

Not to be confused with Dairyland the chain, Dari-Land is also on the rotation for favorite mom-and-pop ice cream stops when I visit the East End of Long Island. when I need a chocolate fix, I go there for their chocolate, chocolate chip hard ice cream in a sugar cone with chocolate sprinkles. Yes, I know it’s a lot of chocolate 🙂 Their mint cookie and soft serve vanilla are also super great! This is a family owned business, too, so its a cute little place. It’s right off the main road, so no excuses not to try it:)

4. Ice Cream Delights, Lincoln NH – No website, but check them out on Yelp!

This cute ice cream stand was also a summer staple when I would camp in NH as a child. This place gives HUMONGOUS scoops – their single scoop is like a double. I love the peppermint stick and they also have good soft serve, too, like the rest of the places I’ve listed here. I think I have a pattern – this place is also next to a great pizza place!

5. Plaza Ice Cream Parlor, Magic Kingdom, WDW

Ice cream always tastes better in WDW with a mickey waffle cone topper! #mainstreetusa #plazaicecreamparlorwdw

And last but not least, enough said….everything tastes better when you’re eating it at Walt Disney World! Disney describes this place as “sweetly nostalgic” and I couldn’t agree more! The inside of the ice cream parlor is adorable, as is the rest of Main Street USA. The smells alone would make you want to gobble a cone or two…or three. I found my favorite flavor when I was there recently and it came complete with a mickey waffle cone topper! The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor also has ginormous sundaes that look delicioulsy daunting. I would recommend checking this place out between castle and purple wall selfies!

Deciding what to choose is no easy task!
